Tattoo Removal
how to destain your lovelies

Maybe her stock outfit was a stunning black skirt.
Or maybe she just couldn't resist that tight red dress...

Your Pullip now has unwanted stains on her body, most likely on the soft vinyl portion of the new bodies. Don't freak out! Stain removal is a relatively quick and painless procedure -- we'll hold your hand and your doll will be as good as new.

1. Go to the store and buy acne cream. You can buy Clearasil or Oxy 10, but the generic store brands are just as good for much less: you just want to make sure you buy a cream with 10% Benzoyl Peroxide.
(And avoid the fleshy tinted kind. You don't want that.)

2. Strip your girl down. We recommend tying her hair back and out of the way, especially if she has stains on or hear her head.

3. Slather the cream all over the affected areas. Slather.

4. Wait.
This is the tough part, because you'll find yourself wanting to check to see if it worked every hour or so. (And, of course, play with your girl!) But wait. I find that dark black stains can take over a week to lighten -- don't get discouraged if, after a day, the stains look unaffected. They will fade, you just need to chill out for a while. (If you scrape the cream off to check the progress, please reapply.) You can speed up the process by leaving your girl in the sunlight or under a sunlamp, but don't put her too close, and be careful of melting!

5. Once the stains have faded to your approval, wash her well with some gentle soap and you're done!
Watch out for that black skirt!

Note on Old Bodies:
You can also use the peroxide cream on the old bodies and the hard plastic portions of the new bodies. However, for the old bodies, you also may want to simply sanding off the stain with a fine grit sandpaper. This will matte the surface of the plastic slightly, so take that into account.

Prevent Future Stains!

Stains are caused by dye leaking from the fabric into the plastic. You can use undershirts/skirts to prevent staining with dark clothes, or wrap your doll's body in clear saran wrap. We recommend a vinegar bath on such garments to set the color so that it won't bleed. Some of us use one part vinegar to one part water (ie half vinegar), but some of us just use straight vinegar. Let soak for several days, then wash the heck out of it with water and a mild soap.
